Union minister Bandi Sanjay charged the Congress-led state government with focusing on commissions than governance. Speaking to reporters on Monday in Karimnagar, where erstwhile sarpanches petitioned demanding clearance of pending bills, he brought in alleged irregularities in sanctioning.
Bandi Sanjay claimed that the Congress government asks for commissions of 8-14% to pass pending bills of former sarpanches. He further alleged that three ministers were assigned the task, which has caused internal revolt within the party. "This has created a civil war among Congress leaders, as honest ministers oppose such activities," he said. Around 12,796 former sarpanches in the state are waiting for payments amounting to ₹1,300 crore, he added.
The BJP, being led by Union Minister Kishan Reddy has decided to campaign until those bills are sanctioned. He also targeted the government, saying that students, the educational institutions, and even private hospitals are suffering because reimbursement is getting delayed. He expressed his concerns over a 22% rise in the crime rate of the state, linking it with ineffective governance as well as law enforcement.
Sanjay questioned the state Assembly's recent debates on film star Allu Arjun. He said such discussions distracted from critical issues, which included the implementation of six guarantees promised by the Congress. "This is part of a larger conspiracy to divert attention from governance failures," he alleged. Sanjay further suggested a questionable association between Congress leader Revanth Reddy and actor Allu Arjun.
Sanjay dismissed Congress’s allegations that the BJP insulted former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. He accused the Congress of neglecting Ambedkar’s legacy, pointing out that the Bharat Ratna was not awarded to him during their rule. He further criticized Sonia Gandhi’s alleged dominance over Manmohan Singh during his tenure as Prime Minister. "Manmohan Singh’s soul must be hurting after witnessing Congress’s current behavior," he remarked.
Former Sarpanch Association President Akkenapalli Karunakar and other leaders were present at the press conference and again demanded immediate release of pending funds.
When questioned about the Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan's remarks about Revanth Reddy, Sanjay said he was unaware of the details. He continued, "If they are saying that Revanth Reddy is a good leader, then Pawan Kalyan should investigate as to how he earned the reputation.
