This is but one of the many promises many candidates make before elections and hardly deliver once they win. MLA Kavya Krishna Reddy is among the very few who are appreciative critics for effectively striving in accordance with his pre-election promises.
He has been raising proper roads as an issue in his constituency for centuries. Though these issues are existent for decades, Reddy asserted to solve them during the campaign. Much work has been done by MLA of Kavali to become a role model: he hoisted a 100-foot national flag and set up a selfie point. On September 1, he will solve a problem that existed since the past decades at Thummalapenta.
A march of 3,000 people from the Kavali constituency to Thummalapenta, where the foundation stone for road construction would be laid. Reddy has assured contractors that any kind of challenge would be overcome, and he would see through the completion of the project. He has set the deadline of January 31, by when the road work should be completed, and wishes to mark its completion by cutting a cake on the just completed road.
This road was a dream to walk on, stalling for years. The project, supposed to be completed in 2018 for Rs 55 crore, was stalled because the state government's Rs 15 crore contribution was not found. With this funding crunch, construction work at places like Buchi and Dagadarthi was halted first, then again Rajupalem to Iskapalli, and finally from Kavali to Thummalapenta.
Reddy took on the initiative and gave a deadline to complete the momentum that had stalled on these projects. He started projecting his commitment towards the constituency, often outpacing his constituents' requirements with his requirement for rest. Hence, while actively engaging the community, by serving to solve their problems, Reddy has made himself a potential role model among the MLAs.
