Union Minister Rammohan Naidu said Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had played a vital role in formulating the concept of Shamshabad Airport and pioneering greenfield airport concepts. Addressing the inaugural event of the Airport Predictive Operation Center at Novotel in Shamshabad, the minister cited the effort Chandrababu took in getting 5,000 acres for the airport. He said Chandrababu's vision was not only in terms of infrastructure but in the IT revolution that had added so much to India's growth.
The minister mentioned that the best technology in the world is being implemented for airport operations. He cited the significance of greenfield airports and how they contribute to national growth.
"We are implementing Digiyatra technology across 24 airports to enhance services through data analytics," said Rammohan Naidu. According to him, airports are not just a means of transportation but rather employment generators and cultural centers.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Civil Aviation is moving at a great pace, and India is turning out to be a crucial player in the world arena. He also emphasized that Warangal and Bhogapuram airports should be completed in time and stated that Bhogapuram is scheduled to become functional by June 2026.
Naidu also revealed an ambitious target of expanding the total number of airports in the country to 50 within the next five years, describing the launch of the Airport Predictive Operation Center as a significant milestone in India's aviation history.
