The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation IRCTC went down to its e-ticketing service on Thursday. In that time, it was noted that users couldn't even access the web portal along with mobile apps to reserve tickets.
There is an official statement on the website by IRCTC that the service was temporarily unavailable because of scheduled maintenance. The statement reads
"Due to maintenance work, e-ticket services are not available. Try again later. For ticket cancellations or TDR filing, please contact customer care at 14646, 08044647999, 08035734999, or email etickets@irctc.co.in."
The users experienced a problem with the inconvenience of the service, mainly when booking tatkal tickets. The services were restored a few hours after the maintenance was done. Social media sites had plenty of posts from users showing frustration over the unscheduled downtime.
On the same day, India's leading telecom operator, Airtel, had its mobile data and broadband services affected. All the users in the country complained of not being able to dial calls and access the internet.
Airtel faced a widespread outage with which social media was filled up with complaints from its users. Yet, no statement has been issued by the company about the disruption and the cause of the problem.
