Direct flight services to Delhi have been the achievement for Rajahmundry Airport. The first IndiGo service from Delhi to Madhurapudi Airport in Rajahmundry was welcomed by a ceremonial water cannon salute. On the inaugural flight, Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu, MP from Rajahmundry Daggubati Purandeswari, and MP from Kakinada Uday Srinivas called attention to the strategic relevance of this service for the region.
This is on the back of recent direct flights from Rajahmundry to Mumbai, thereby increasing connectivity of the city to metros in India.
MP Daggubati Purandeswari called the day historic for Rajahmundry, citing that the place has become much more convenient and better opportunities for its residents. She was hopeful that services to the cities of Tirupati, Shirdi, Ayodhya, and other places would begin shortly. Purandeswari also promised to keep promises at the time of elections by cooperating with others for the growth of the state.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu highlighted Rajahmundry's growing role in India's aviation network. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for the rapid expansion of air travel across the country and pledged continued efforts to promote the state’s development.
With the addition of such direct flight services, regional as well as national air travels will see Rajahmundry as an important hub. The city is bound to have growing tourism, trade, and business platforms both with its inhabitants and outsiders.
